Overview of EN ISO EPB Standards Training Modules Developed within the CEN-CE project
CEN-CE was a two-year Horizon 2020 project, implemented from June 2018 to November 2020, which developed an EU-wide common large-scale training and qualification scheme for building professionals. The scheme was built around the set of EN ISO EPB standards, developed under the European Commission’s mandate M/480 to support the implementation of the recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, Directive 2010/31/EU.
The second generation of EPB standards had been published in 2017 and the full package consisted of around 50 standards, introducing a new and innovative modular structure. These standards placed stronger emphasis on the integration of renewable energy sources, new technical building systems, and harmonised calculation procedures for assessing the overall energy performance of buildings.
Within its original scope, CEN-CE focused primarily on the EN standards related to HVAC systems, developed under CEN/TC 228 on building technical systems, together with the overarching standards developed under CEN/TC 371 for the calculation of overall energy performance indicators.
The visual below illustrates the training modules that were prepared during the implementation of the CEN-CE project and that provide an important basis for the continued learning activities taken forward through the SmarterEPC project.
